On the first Sunday in August, hundreds of thousands of ordinary people across Australia come together to celebrate our precious local ecosystems and to plant over a million new trees, shrubs and grasses. Begun in 1996, National Tree Day has now grown into Australia’s largest community tree planting and nature protection event. It’s an invitation for all Australians to put their hands in the earth and give back to their valuable natural environment.

When: Sunday 1st August, 9am-11am

Where: Rosser Park, Mount Tamborine, just opposite St.Bernards Shopping Centre, Siganto Street, Mt Tamborine

What to bring: covered shoes, hat, drinking water. Tools and morning tea are provided.

The park is suitable for young and old (and everyone in between), and the tree planting work is easy. It’s a great way to mark this important occasion in our ecological calendar, get to know members of our mountain community, and have fun.
