Scenic Rim residents and visitors are being urged to cast their votes for Tamborine Mountain, which is in the running for its second Queensland Top Tourism Town Award.

Celebrated in 2022 as an outstanding regional destination with a community committed to excellence in visitor experiences and growing its tourism industry, Tamborine Mountain is again a finalist in the Top Tourism Town Award category for a population of more than 5000.

Mayor Greg Christensen urged the Scenic Rim community to show its support for Tamborine Mountain which is up against Bowen, Bundaberg, Caloundra, Redcliffe, Rockhampton and Townsville for the 2023 Top Tourism Town Award.

“Tucked into the hinterland Tamborine Mountain is a hidden gem, spanning boutique wineries, historic pubs, charming gift shops, art galleries and natural wonders,” he said.

It offers a unique range of experiences, from family adventures to romantic getaways, fine food and beverages, rural delights and world-class accommodation – all of which has contributed to the Scenic Rim’s recognition by the Lonely Planet guide as one of the world’s top 10 regions to visit,” he said.

“Last year’s Top Tourism Award was the result of voters from across Australia and beyond nominating Tamborine Mountain as their favourite destination for weddings, honeymoons, special events and extra-long weekend adventures.”

Presented by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC), the Top Tourism Towns awards will be announced in June with the winners of each of the three categories going on to represent Queensland in the national awards later this year.

Division 1 Councillor Amanda Hay encouraged the local community to back the Scenic Rim region by voting for Tamborine Mountain as a Top Tourism Town in 2023.

“Tamborine Mountain is a jewel in the crown of the Scenic Rim and is a key contributor to the local economy with tourism providing valuable jobs for local people,” she said.

Voting for the 2023 awards through the QTIC website at qtic.com.au/top-tourism-award/ closes on Wednesday 24 May.

Each voter goes into a draw to win a three-night stay at the five-star RACV Noosa Resort.
